He spent the first half decade of his performing life living out of a van, busking the streets of New Orleans, the U.S. West Coast, and Europe, making ends meet through day-labor, chipping slag from barges on the Intercoastal Canal, night shifts at a group home for non-verbal schizophrenics, a burrito jockey, a bicycle rickshaw driver and other humble means. His writing has always been honest, poetic efforts at communicating the trappings and joys of human existence in post-industrialized western life. Though falling under the umbrella of Americana, he refers to his music as ‘Funeral Pop’.

From Your Everlovin’ Editor

Greetings from TLC HQ,

December is off to a fantastic start. We’re lucky to have so many talented performers grace our two stages. Damn! We had some real heavy hitters. Raise your hand if you were here to witness any of these showcases. What were your favorite things from last week’s shows?

Our End of Year Fundraiser is also off to a good start. Thank you to each and every one of you early donors. We appreciate your dedication to helping us create, sustain, and defend spaces for live performance. We’re inching forward. Can we meet our goal of $20K this year? There is power in numbers and $5, $10, $20 really helps.

We’re also grateful to the sweet souls who did a Facebook Birthday Fundraiser this year. Thank you for celebrating another spin around the sun by gifting TLC with money we need to sail on to our own next anniversary. Click HERE to learn how to set up your own fundraiser for us on the FB.

I hope you enjoy reading this week’s Lost Church Bulletin and see you at the theaters.

Love,

Michele & The Lost Church

Ned Buskirk of You're Going to Die

You’re Going to Die: Poetry, Prose & Everything Goes brings grief and grace to our San Francisco theater every 2nd Thursday.

It’s an open mic facilitated by founder Ned Buskirk with Chelsea Coleman and the YG2D Team where everyone is invited to share or sit quietly and listen, to reach out to friends and strangers or simply take it all in, to feel and hold space for each other.

It’s a moment in time to talk about the unspoken. It’s unforgettable and cathartic and a joy to be a part of.

To quote YG2D

“…for an entertainingly meaningful, moving, celebratory night with community, exploring the conversation of death & dying, to embrace our losses & mortality, to grieve, bereave, & honor those we’ve lost & love…
while all the while making room for simply being… ALIVE.”
