Lilli Lewis (NOLA) + Secret Emchy Society

TICKETS

Athens, Georgia native turned New Orleans Folk Rock Diva, Lilli Lewis is a powerhouse composer and performing artist with jaw-dropping vocal stylings, a voice for the voiceless in Americana, “storytelling with transformative empathy and classically trained poise.” Jewly Hight, NPR.org. Melding classic twang with a punk ethos, Cindy Emch of Secret Emchy Society is the First Lady of Queer Country, known for her distinct voice and ability to blend Americana, California Country, Hellbilly, Goth, and Honky Tonk, spinning radically distinctive tales from her singular perspective. Emchy’s not only a highly regarded musician in the Bay Area—nominated three times for Best Local LGBT Band by Bay Area Reporter—but she’s also a seasoned student of the history of LGBTQA musicians dipping their toes in genres that have always been “off-limits” for non-hetero participants. She was the founding editor of Country Queer and still hosts Gimme Country’s popular Emchy’s Outlaw Americana show.

Kyra Gordon & Pi Jacobs: Maiden Voyage to the NEW Lost Church

TICKETS

Kyra Gordon has belted out Janis Joplin hits in a one-woman show, earned a conservatory degree interpreting jazz standards, and spent several years in the improvisational hip-hop group The Freeze, but it was the long road she traveled winding from Hollywood to New Orleans to a rural North Carolina commune to Paris that fueled her remarkable debut album Soul of a Showgirl. Her music flows from the vicissitudes of her footloose life, glinting with insights she’s gleaned along the way. Pi Jacobs draws inspiration from her unconventional upbringing in “The Land of Weed and Wine” aka Northern California. Blending roots-rock swagger and storytelling soul, her music has drawn comparisons to Tom Waits, Dolly Parton, and Lucinda Williams.

Sunday, November 20th | Doors at 7:30 Show 8:15-10:30pm – INDIE-FOLK MUSIC

The Feelings Parade & Glitterfox

TICKETS

Led by songwriters Morgan Bolender and Scott Ferreter, The Feelings Parade  has developed a loyal following of diehard “Feelers” who come as much for the poetic songwriting, tight harmonies, and rich textures as they do to drop into their own tender human hearts in a space of collective radical vulnerability. On more than one occasion, fans have said that Feelings Parade shows are “better than therapy.” Glitterfox has been called “one of the most successful Portland bands of the pandemic era. By blending Americana and rock into an indie-folk cocktail, they have created a singular sound that can both rouse and soothe, as fans of their ferociously emotional EP Night can attest.”

TLC Song Service w/ Dean Tisthammer, Amber Fenex, Ross Barbieri

TICKETS

TLC Song Service is an intimate evening, every third Thursday, with three artists passing the spotlight. Expect insights into the craft of the song from inspiration to final form.

Dean Tisthammer’s solo music is minimalist and impressionistic, equally influenced by the angular textures of post-punk and the meditative soundscapes of early ambient and new age music. Amber Fenex has been gigging Sonoma County for years and have recently released her first EP. Ross Barbieri has recently developed a love for acoustic songwriting drawing inspiration from the likes of Foy Vance, The Tallest Man on Earth, David Bazan, Gregory Alan Isakov, and many others.

Friday, November 18th | Doors at 7:30 Show 8:15-10:30pm – FOLK-ROCK/INDIE MUSIC

Mickelson (solo) & King Dream (solo)

TICKETS

Scott Mickelson has been referred to by anecdote as a cross between Michael McDermott and Billy Joel. “It’s American folk-Rock with a post punk edge, rustic but scarred.” – Alternative Press Magazine. King Dream is an indie psych-rock project from Bay Area songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Lyon. With a soulful voice, roots planted in the golden era of California psychedelia, and a wry energy that places him firmly in the 21st century, Lyon charts a path through timeless themes: disillusionment with oneself, with adulthood, with one’s country — and the discovery, time and again, that somehow there’s still plenty worthy of a love song.

Hi from TLC Headquarters,

It’s so good to be visiting you and your inbox again. I treasure our  email get together.

This week we welcome a new Circus Theater production to TLC Santa Rosa plus a fine coterie of folk-diva songs, indie crooners, songwriter stories, stripped down hobo punk, anthemic alt-rock, and new wave fun.

And at TLC San Francisco our stage gets to host pure power pop, New Orleans piano magic, fierce female folk and rock hooks, serious roots rock belters, and poetic musical therapy.

There is nothing like stepping into the secret world of The Lost Church and being whisked away from the mundane with friends and strangers sharing a rarified moment of connection with artists.

Shall we do it again this week?

(Just say yes!)
