Brian Belknap’s Front Porch w/ Mike Coykendall (PDX) and Sarah Bethe Nelson
Brian Belknap’s Front Porch returns to its longtime home at The Lost Church with some of the finest songwriters from the Bay Area and beyond. Veteran songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Mike Coykendall is known for working with notable artists such as M. Ward, Blitzen Trapper, She & Him, among others. Sarah Bethe Nelson’s music is like a later Townes Van Zandt self-deprecation jolted through the afterglow of Stoned And Dethroned horizon-watching.

Laura Benitez and the Heartache + Laura T. Lewis Trio
Laura Benitez and the Heartache use the three chord tools of country music to tell the simple, unvarnished truth about love, too much whiskey, and the call of the road. Raised under the northern fog banks of the San Francisco Bay on a heavy dose of country, folk, and blues from old clement street, Laura T. Lewis Trio stitches these influences together for a sound of their own.

Xanthe Alexis & ZIVA
Xanthe Alexis has devoted her life to healing others as a trauma therapist and acclaimed indie artist. Her latest record pairs soaring melodies with lush, hypnotic soundscapes as it grapples with anxiety and strength, worry and comfort, heartbreak and hope. ZIVA spent her early years exploring the classical side of music playing the cello, taking classical voice lessons and singing in choirs. In her teens she switched things up, took on the saxophone followed by piano and was the front woman for a couple of funk bands back in her homeland of Israel where she studied vocal jazz at The Jerusalem Music & Dance Academy.

Tonight is a solo showcase with Casey and he will be performing 2 sets of songs and stories spanning his career. This includes his years as leader of The Norway Rats (feat. members of The Decemberists), his time as a member of Minus 5 with Peter Buck from REM, his adventures performing at Newport Folk Fest, his international project with Japanese folk artists, and much more. TLC Song Service w/ Parson Jones, Erin Sky, Steve Shirrell
Every third Thursday The Lost Church Santa Rosa features three songwriters sharing the spotlight with insights into the craft of the song from inspiration to final form.
Parson Jones is the project of Northern California multi-instrumentalist/producer/singer Kerry Conlan. Kerry describes the project as nostalgic indie soul, heavily influenced and inspired by the likes of Curtis Mayfield and Motown from the past, and Son Little, Khruangbin and Gnarls Barkley from the present. Erin Sky mixes ethereal vocals with dreamy instrumentation to create a sound that wraps around you as you listen. Her mix of instruments, ranging from guitar, to saxophone, to piano, to synthesized sounds, to a looping pedal, help to create a playground for music to thrive. Steve Shirrell’s closest brush with “fame” was having The U.N. Shuffle aired by Dr. Demento in 1985 and a song featured on KRCB’s Connections 5 CD. His most consistent work has been supporting the Sonoma County music scene through his four decades at Stanroy Music Center.

Lost Church Free Radio ends on October 31st
We’re grateful to all of you who listened to, contributed to, and supported our fledgling radio station. It was a long time dream of ours and we hope to bring it back some day.
The sad reality is that we have run out of funding for it.
Re-opening our San Francisco Theater and growing our Santa Rosa Theater is very costly and we need to focus all of our efforts on keeping these stages alive and making them thrive for the artists, our community, and all of us who love and rely on them.
We are up for the challenge and know that you’re right there with us. Thanks for all of your donations, for attending shows, and for spreading the good word about The Lost Church.
It’s farewell for now to Lost Church Free Radio, but together we have a long road ahead for live performance at our theaters.
